Best Snow Foam 2022 | What makes a good snow foam?

You want to loosen and remove as much dirt as possible with the snow foam because the less dirt on the surface before hand washing, the lower the chance of inflicting more swirls and scratches.
The cleaning power of snow foam will vary by brand. However, what I like in a snow foam is consistency. The foam should be thick enough so it can dwell or soak in the surface before running out, it should have very good “cling” power. Foam that cling better, have the ability to loosen dirt better. If foam is too thick, there is always a chance that it might pull down too fast, and will not be able to perform the purpose of it’s use, which is to safely loosen dirt. I usually wait for five minutes for the snow foam to do its magic.

• The foam should have sufficient time to stick on the paint to remove all traces of loose dust and dirt
• The concentrate should be economical to use
• The snow foam should leave zero traces of residue after rinsing with water
• The concentrate should be safe to use on plastic, glass, and clear coat paint
• You can leave the foam to cling to the car and soak for around 5 minutes depending on the weather/temperature at the time. This way you will remove more dirt and once rinsed off with a pressure washer, the risk of inflicting marring and fine scratches are reduced. If this step is ignored and you go straight to a wash mitt you will simply be grinding dirt and contaminants into the paint, which could lead to Swirl marks and scratches!
  The first thing you need to remember is to never apply snow foam over hot surfaces. If the surface is hot to the touch, allow the vehicle to cool down considerably before cleaning your vehicle with snow foam. Always wash your vehicle in a shaded area to help avoid water spots.
  The next important step is to rinse the vehicle with clean water before spraying the snow foam. This will further remove traces of loose dirt that might scratch the surface.
  The snow foam should be allowed to cling or dwell on the surface for at least five minutes. When the foam turns into liquid as it runs off and drips towards the ground, rinse it immediately with clean water before it gets a chance to dry.
  Obviously we do recommend this process but if you do not have an appropriate lance for your pressure washer then we suggest that you spend some time carefully rinsing starting from the top to the bottom to remove as much debris as you can.
  Method:
  Work your way all around the vehicle. You’ll notice that I also coat the wheels and wheel arches.
  Leave to dwell for about 5 minutes.
  After about 5 rinse off top to bottom.

  A higher pH snow foam can strip waxes and sealants. You would use these to prep the surface for a polish and new sealant or ceramic coating. With a higher pH, i.o. alkaline snow foam, you will be able to remove more dirt successfully.
  What you need to know about Alkaline Cleaners
  Alkaline detergents are the best overall cleaners, they are effective on organic soils such as oils, bugs, asphalt and tree sap. Acidic detergents are generally poor solo cleaners. They are almost always used in a two-step Alkaline/Acidic application but when used can effectively clean inorganic soils such as clay, sand and dirt. Specialized “Solvent” detergents are often used to remove very tough grease tar and tree sap “Road Film Soils”.

Alkalinity can assist with cleaning while creating a pH solution that is above 7 with high alkaline products making solutions that are generally above 11 in pH. Alkaline detergents are the best overall cleaners and can remove most soils.
Lower pH snow foams are safer to use on waxed surfaces.

Pre-wash alkyline snow foam. CARPRO Lift is a highly concentrated pre-wash foam agent that dissolves and softens dirt and grime so it can be easily removed during the wash. Suitable for use with all foaming tools, canisters, guns, and pressure washers, CARPRO Lift produces a thick foam designed to prep the most embattled areas of the vehicle.
Use LIFT to soften bugs, baked on dirt, and more. Lift is formulated specifically to offer maximum wetting and rinses off easily as well. It is not a superficial high foaming product but has been designed as a true active surface agent. During the panel dwell period, Lift’s bubbles soak the hardened debris and allow it to release from the vehicle with ease during the wash.
